A Quick Note To “All” In The Talent Industry and Those Thinking About It!

It’s a very saturated industry out there, and after much researching of agencies, I chose MORO! Being a “newbie” I was fascinated to see the coaching and positivity Moro has extended to me. As a result of they’re dedication to me as a client; after very few auditions, I was elated to land a position with Readers Digest, advertising for a Canadian Women’s Health Magazine 2008′! The compensation was more than I had expected. Customer service and satisfaction is very rare these days in our face paced society, but Moro has proven to exceed my expectations in consistently sending me out for great audition possibilities. They’re not just an agency, we’re on a team together!

Much Thanks!

I am a 58 year old male with some experience in community theatre and joined Moro Talent less than a year ago.  In that time, I have been sent to audition for various types of commercials and short movies.  Some of the commercials have been corporate, pharmaceutical companies, health related products, communication products and workplace safety. Some of the commercials I have landed include a Golf clothing & accessory company commercial which was a 2 day shoot and seen on Hockey Night in Canada during the playoffs, a wellness short movie as a parent of a troubled, gambling addicted child, a music video as a frustrated parent of a teen who worshipped a rock band and also a gambler who shows the emotional gamut of intense joy and to the depths of despair, losing loved ones, his home et al who ultimately beats the addiction to get back to a normal life. The people I worked with were genial, outgoing, friendly, and we had a lot of fun in the various processes.

I also noted that we fed off each other’s ideas.  Not all commercials, short movies are carefully scripted and in many cases adlibbing was the norm. As someone who realizes I would appeal to the older generation, I decided to take an Elder Planning Counselor designation through the Canadian Initiatives for Elder Planning Studies.  As a Financial Consultant, to get myself comfortable in the public speaking area, I have also produced and delivered seminars to various sectors of the economy.  In the past, I’ve learned how to fly a single engine plane, learned how to scuba dive and learned some about survival camping in the wilds of Algonquin Park. I’d like to thank Moro Talents for the opportunity to be involved with the many casting agents, directors and producers.

In the 4 years I’ve been with Moro Models and Talent it has been like a steady climb.I’ve seen the agencies growth, the bussiness grow and my own personal growth. At first it started out a bit slow because I was new and didn’t land much auditions but I kept a positive attitude and stayed persistant and slowly but surely the work started comming in and it has
been steady ever since.I’ve been provided opportunities to audition for many roles and big companies such as Much Music,MTV Canada,Numerous videos and Movie projects in and around Toronto.

As time went on I’ve gotten better and started landing alot of these auditions and got jobs on a number of projects like the “Make you think” series ,’How she move’ Movie,’Keys to the VIP’ and ‘Nike’ just to name a few.I’ve maintained my status as an active talent just by being persistant and keeping my main goal in sight all the time.Lately I’ve noticed i’m a recognizable face in the city becuase people come up to me all the time asking me if i was on this show or that commercial and its pretty rewarding becuase everyone is so supportive and want to know more about the industry so that is one of the  good perks. My advice to new talent or aspiring models is to never, ever give up on anything that you’ve dreamed of or persuing becuase there will be a great outcome if u just stick at it..It may sound cliche but these are words to live by.

Overall my time here has been nothing but a great ride.

After returning to Canada in 2006, I began the what can be difficult search for an agency.  After speaking with a number of agency’s, I was drawn to Moro because they offered something different.  You get the sense that there is  a genuine commitment on there part to not only push you in the industry, but also encourage you to better yourself as a talent. After my first year with Moro, I was pleased that they pushed my so hard and the results were very positive.

As a first year talent, not only was I able to land print work, but also TV and commercials. I feel confident that now, in my second year there is a team behind me dedicated to my success.  I do feel like Moro offers something different and unique in a business where trust is sometimes hard to come by.

My experience with Moro has been a positive one. Having been with this agency for about a year, I have noticed a definite increase in the number of auditions I have been submitted to. The jobs I have booked so far have been very diverse and a great learning experience. I appreciate the continuous encouragement and feedback I get from my management team, and they are always available to answer any questions I may have. I look forward to growing with the agency.

Have a great day!
